Acme Fresh Markets $25 Gift Card Giveaway

Share

So yesterday I was shopping at Acme and I had a rain check for Angel Soft toilet paper.  I bought 3 of them and I gave the cashier the rain check along with 3 internet printables — one that was printed on a color printer and two that were printed on a laser printer.

Well, wouldn't you know it, the damn things beeped when the cashier tried to scan them.  I figured it must have been caused by the rain check because every other coupon I gave her went through just fine.  She told me that if they don't scan, she can't take them, and swore up and down she did the rain check right.  I then asked to speak with the manager.  So, she runs over and talks to the manager and I guess didn't let hm know that I wanted to talk to him.

She comes back and tells me hat my coupons look photocopied but she said they were going to take them anyway.  She actually accused me of photocopying coupons.  I was LIVID, let me tell you.  I explained to her that they are not photocopied and that I printed them on a laser printer, and if that were the case, how could she explain the colored one beeping?

Anyway, she grudgingly took the coupons, I paid for my stuff, and off I went directly to see the store manager.  Super nice guy by the way.  I told him that I was quite unhappy that she had accused me of photocopying coupons.  I understand that she is doing her job, but if I were going to photocopy coupons and scam Acme, I would be doing it for free product and I'd have 30 or 40 coupons that I'd be trying to pass off, not a couple of bucks off Angel Soft.

Anyway, he apologized, and took care of everything for me.  I handed him my card and told him what I do, and asked if would help my readers.  He agreed to help one of my readers with their holiday shopping.  So, my aggravation yesterday was your gain.  He gave me a $25 Acme Gift Card to give to one of you.

Probably going to Walmart to get free travel detergent before vacation and the cashier refusing all of my coupons.  So upset because I really wanted the travel size for my vacation, not just because it was free.

My worst coupon moment had to be with Buehler’s when they first started doubling coupons. I had some internet coupons but most were clipped from the paper. The cashier scrutinized every ucoupon and acted like I was trying to steal something. I have shopped there for years. Not just because of doubling. I did speak to the manager about the cashiers customer service skills.

  3. Sara says:

My worst coupon moment was when I had a bunch of coupons and thought I was going to save all kinds of money but I didn't pay attention to the dates and a lot of them were expired :( Now I pay close attention!

  4. Angela says:

Last summer when there was a great coupon on BOGO Sobe Drinks and CVS was always running BOGO sales making them always free (acceptable under their coupon policy at the time) I was turned down by the cashier and shift manager and finally the GM in the store accepted them  "just this once" and I "could not come back to try another day" I was soooooo irritated that 3 of thier own employees did not know their own coupon policy. It was the blind leading the blind. I contacted customer service with no response and I have yet to return to that store since then!

  5. Beth in the Heartland says:

Worst moment – when I first tried to use coupons and butchered every deal I thought I'd set up correctly!

  6. Jill says:

When I first started couponing I started with the worst store Walgreens. The manager would call a code "something" over the loud speaker when I was ready to check out. Then they would scrutinize every transaction I did.It was embarrasing to say the least.

  7. Cathie says:

Having an internet printable coupon that GE refused to take, because the cashier said I'd be getting something free (b1g1 coupon).  So the cashier apparently went to the manager on duty and they said they checked it online and it wasn't valid…so as soon as I got home I checked it on Verify and it said it was valid.  And the best part, it was for something that cost less than $1, but the fact that I'd be getting something free (even after purchasing the same item) is why they refused it.

  8. Lisa VanRaepenbusch says:

My worst coupon experiences are all at Target.  I plan Target trips out, and they take a lot of work.  I have stacks of coupons each time, and each time, I end up finding a cashier that thinks I am trying to "get the store" by cheating them.  I look for the cashiers that look patient, and new.  No matter what I do, they always end up calling a manager over, and I have to review the Target coupon policy that says I can stack coupons and that the picture does not have to match the item, and yes I can use it on a trial size, as long as the size is not restricted on the coupon.  This happens at least once a month.  You would think I would stop couponing there, but I can't beat the freebies/cheap things I grab there!

  9. My worst moment was when I was shopping with my kids and tried to use a coupon at kohls.  Apparently, it had already been used and some one had copied it and given it to me- boy was I embarrassed!

  10. Christina Gould says:

My worst coupon moment was when I had a bunch of coupons to give the cashier at Sam's Club and then learned that they don't take coupons.  Thanks for the giveaway!

  11. erin says:

My worst moment was the same as yours, I was accused of copying coupons. I was trying to use 2. She was incredibly rude too!

  12. Mary says:

I've had many embarrassing coupon incidents.. Recently, I was shopping at Giant Eagle and I went through the self-checkout lane. Almost every coupon needed the cashier to come over, I think I had 30 coupons and only the first few went through. Eventually, she just stayed. At least they weren't busy so I wasn't holding up anyone.

  13. Kristal says:

Oh that would be so frustrating and one of the reasons I don't do many coupons.  I'm just nervous about something going wrong.  My husband said he'd do them for me – isn't that sweet?  Now I just need to get on the ball and get that going!

  14. Kelli says:

Hate when they won't take them because they won't scan!! ughh. I am a big fan of Acme though!

  15. shel says:

One particular Giant Eagle near me absolutely refuses internet coupons and even coupons that "appear" like internet coupons. I had coupons for free Totino's pizza rolls that I won and they came as paper coupons but had the special printing on the back and even the little round silver seal on the front and they refused to take them because they looked like they could be fake. I wish there was some easier way to redeem free product coupons because I always seem to have issues with those.  I remember standing there almost crying because they were treating me like I forged the coupons.

  16. Sherri says:

….worst couponing moment?  Acme had soup on sale, I had numerous coupons.  I got all the cans that were on the coupons – but it was the wrong brand.  Operator error!!!  Yep, I had her take ALL of them off – no coupon = no sale.

  17. Jessie C. says:

My worst coupon moment was when I found out I lost my whole binder, tragedy!

  18. Deborah says:

My worst coupon moment was when I unknowingly used a fraudulent coupon.  I went back to the store later to try to pay them back.  I felt awful!

  19. Jennifer Marie says:

My worst coupon moment was when I forgot to give a coupon.  I tried to do it after the fact but the store really went crazy.  I didn't want to go back there for a long time.  It would have been ok if they didn't want to do it, but they acted super crazy.

  20. Cynthia C says:

My worst moment was at Walmart when the cashier told me that I could only use one of my coupons because it said "one per purchase."  She didn't understand the difference between "purchase" and "transaction."  I let it go.

  21. caitlin chapman says:

i had a huge blowout at GE last week. i was accused of copying coupons, having more than the "policy limit" of printables, and everything else under the sun. to make matters worse the head cashier sided with the cashier even when i showed them my copy of the NEWEST GE coupon policy. i was fuming.

  22. Denise Gilbert says:

I just had a incident happen at ACME with a Buy 1 Get one Free body wash.  The checkout guy thought the register was asking for another price and I had to figure out what he did and ended up going back to the service desk for 2 seperate coupon problems.  I always check my receipt when I leave the store and I have returned to GE and ACME with problems that I have gotten resolved.  You just have to be persistent and follow through with the customer service.

  23. Adrienne gordon says:

Nothing truly bad, except not realizing theyw ere expired.

  24. DAna J says:

nothing too bad-more like the coupons were expired although stories like this are why i don't do as much couponing

  25. Dana says:

nothing bad for me -only expired coupons

  26. Valerie Taylor Mabrey says:

a stack of coupons and a manager that wanted each one taped to the product and also wanted to read each coupon as he went.

  27. Denise says:

My worst coupon moment was when I had forgotten my store card and the cashier had to look it up over at the service desk because her computer would not get it. It was late there was a line behind me.. then several of my coupons had to be added by hand, and all this time there was  a HUGE guy behind me scouling and talking in Russian on his phone.. I think I made a Russian hit man late for his hit!

  29. Barbara says:

Luckily, I haven't had a terrible experience at checkout with coupons.  My worst experience would just be when I get a rude cashier that scrutinizes every coupon, even though they're 100% authentic and valid.

  30. Marie Hudak says:

I was at Target and thought that I had both a Target and a manufacturers coupon for my items. Well it turns out that they were both manufacturers coupons and after arguing with the cashier and manager I got my items but I did feel horrible once I figured it out. OOPS

  31. Mare S says:

My worst coupon moment just happened this week at PetSmart.  I was using some Purina coupons for free products and the kid kept putting the amount of one can of food on a two cans coupon – so I had to wait for him to correct it every single time.

  32. Lauren Friedman says:

I went to the local Fisher's, and the cashier said my printed coupons were probably all copies. She was very rude and said people like me were costing her store money… She literally called up the manager to "verify" (not sure how they were verifying these over the phone) each and every one of my sizeable stack of coupons… There was a huge line of aggravated customers waiting behind me by the time I was done. I haven't gone back to that store since. (In case you were wondering, I DID get to use my coupons, but after about 20 minutes of harassment… If I hadn't spent so much time picking out my merchandise, I would have just left!)

  33. Laura Brewer says:

My worst coupon experiences are similar to yours…being accused of using copied coupons or cashiers that don't understand coupon policies.
